Tips and Clothing Suggestions for Beach Pictures

Choose colors that work with the beach: white, khaki, blues, tans. These colors will coordinate with your surroundings and your faces will be the focus of the viewer when they look at the portrait.

Stay away from patterns; they will distract the eye of the viewer from focusing on the faces in the portrait. A longer sleeve is suggested for adults. Again, the most amount of exposed skin should be on the faces of adults and older children.

Ladies, remember to do your nails, hands and feet will show. A soft buff or a more natural soft color is recommended. Check your children’s nails to rule out chipped or odd colors. Gentlemen, do shave if necessary before the session.

Try not to get a sunburn or spend the entire day in the sun before the session if possible.

Barefoot is fine, coordinate your shoes if you wish to wear them. Try to stay away from large tennis shoes. We don’t want the portrait to be focused on them. Keep jewelry simple and have a backup plan for hair for the women in the group. If it is windy, hair ties, headbands, scarves, etc are sometimes necessary. Makeup should focus on the eyes.
